You borrow a quarter and have it signed by any spectator. Pour some water into a drinking glass which you place on the table.

You place the coin under a handkerchief, and give it to your spectator to hold over the glass of water.

From your pocket you remove a tightly sealed circular box - which any spectator holds tightly in their hand.

You ask your spectator, at the count of 3, to release his signed coin from the handkerchief into the glass. 1-2-3! He releases the coin where it is heard to land with a splash.

Without you TOUCHING or even going near the glass - you ask the spectator to remove the handkerchief. HIS MARKED, SIGNED COIN IS GONE! You can even pour the water out of the CLEAR glass - the coin is absolutely NOT THERE!

NOW...ASK the person holding the round box TIGHTLY in his fist if he felt anything. Request him to open his hand & pull the top & bottom apart. INSIDE is ANOTHER, differently colored box! He continues to pull open the boxes until he gets to the 4TH BOX - the last one.

ROUTINE:
Do you boys & girls know who the man in the moon is? Have you ever looked into the sky at night, & seen a face in the moon? Well, that is the MAN IN THE MOON!

You show the kids the “BEAUTIFUL STARRY NIGHT”. This, the SKY & STARS, is the MAN IN THE MOON’s house! There are 2 doorways: one on the audience’s left with the LARGE WHITE CLOUD is the “MOON’S CUPBOARD” with a “magic door”. On the audience’s right is the “MOON’S KITCHEN”.

Introduce “THE MAN IN THE MOON’s house. You open the kitchen & place him inside. 

“It has been said that if you can catch a leprechaun he will give you a pot of gold”. “Everybody knows that”. But do you know what happens if you catch the “MAN IN THE MOON”? He makes your wish come true!

The kids will YELL they see him! (But you don’t!) “Where where!” As he moves across you make him tilt from left to right using the puppet feature (as in HA HA you don’t see me).

“I THINK WE’VE GOT HIM” & have a child come up & point to where Mr. MOON is. You open the door & he’s vanished!

The kids now see Mr. MOON peeking out from the side of the KITCHEN – but YOU don’t see him!

The kids see MR. Moon traveling across – “YOU'LL NEVER CATCH ME!”. The kids are SCREAMING!

Then he starts popping up & down from the other door! Your audience becomes WILD with EXCITEMENT!

You CONTROL Mr. Moon & you make him move how and where YOU WANT! Popping Mr. Moon over the door or peaking his head out the side, the more you do it the more the children will SHOUT, SCREAM & LAUGH!

You finally catch him. Select and audience member or the birthday boy or girl, have them hold Mr. Moon in their hands very tight, close their eyes & make a wish!

What’s WONDERFUL about this trick is you can make YOUR routine as short or as long as like. You could end it here, or make him reappear back in the house – with Mr. MOON POPPING OUT THE SIDE – running back & forth – and then you can make Mr. MOON VANISH AGAIN!
