You borrow a ring. A man's ring or a woman's ring, it doesn't matter. You don't even handle the ring. You bring out a ring box. The lid is opened & it is seen that inside is a velvet-covered cushion. The spectator places the ring into the slot on the cushion. You close the box & hand it to a spectator to hold.

You show your empty hands & bring out a translucent red “crystal”, threaded on to a plastic cord. The crystal appears semi-transparent & hangs in the center of the cord, completely away from your hands. Suddenly & without warning you shatter the crystal on a table & there in the very center, threaded on the cord, is the borrowed ring! The spectator who has been holding the ring box the whole time opens it up & FINDS NOTHING AT ALL!

Everything can be examined - parts of the crystal, the ring box. EVERYTHING.
